Good video Harry, nice to see some familiar faces.
BTW my mother worked at Boeing on Sea Island building Canso's.

Thanks for posting the video and highlighting the Boeing site and Fort Steveston. I believe my dad served in an LAA unit at Fort Steveston, although most of of his time in the Vancouver area seems to have been at Little Mountain and University Endowment Lands. Jon

Thank you for the Boeing link. Not wishing to hijack this thread toward aviation, but any idea if the Enola Gay's fuselage was produced in the Vancouver plant?

This link https://www.b29-superfortress.com/b2...bly-plants.htm suggests B-29 production was in Wichita.

Bruce MacMillan 06-09-20 07:59

They were also built in Seattle. The plant at Sea Island built part of the center fusilage including bomb bay doors. These were shipped to Seattle for assy.

SeaIsland Vs Queensborough

Looking at the photo's I come up with the same anomaly between the two buildings.
The SeaIsland web page you sent show two different buildings, the top one is I believe of the Queensborough building as it has an extra structure on the roof letting in more light and cooling, those structures are never present on the Sea Island building.'Nice to see Arrow Transfer trucks, they are still in Bussiness.

Bruce MacMillan 06-09-20 20:35

Vancouver Archives has photos of the two buildings.

But this one is definitly the one in Queensborough, its under construction in this photo, i"ve seen this before. At the top left you see the start of the uppermost structures that you can see in the video and the attached structures are still in place today.
