Timber truck bodies

G'day All,

Leeann found this badge on a 1940 GMC that I was taking some parts off for my Chevy. What does this badge signify - does it mean that the body was an original WWII tray? Or is it something similar to what happens today if you get a mechanic or engineer to do modifications on a vehicle which then has to be inspected by the Department of Transport and they put an approved modifcation plate on it? The reason I ask is that the vehicle has some signs of being ex-military.

Kind Regards
Lionel

Coach builders of the day numbered their work in the same way as vehicle manufacturers numbered their vehicles so I would say that is a body (rear deck) numbering code from whomever made that body. I hope you rescued the badge? :)

What was the rest of the truck like?

G'day Cliff,

It had a very good horn and a exterior door handle until I took them off and paid for them. :) :) Body and tray of truck was sad. Badge was rescued. :D

Kind Regards
Lionel

G'day Jeff,

It was a standard 2 wheel drive truck and the tray was rough. Here are a couple of pictures

Lionel
