But seriously, I'll look up the numbers for you tomorrow if nobody else chimes in before then. Be prepared for a bugger of a job. Those starters are really buried in there. Originally, you had to pull the engine to change them.

Both part numbers given are Bosch. They are: A001813260
and 0001363128

I do see the second one when I search google, so there may be some hope there. Otherwise, just bring it in to a starter/alternator rebuild place and let them have at it.

Found the second one : $555 . Do i really have to pull the engine out ? Can’t i just cut the floor in the driving compartment to access the darn starter ?

I believe there is a way of removing or re-routing the various transmission and cooling hoses in the area and sneaking it out, but I would have to check with some of the guys. But I do know that it is important to replace all the tie wraps that you remove from those hoses. We had a lot of problems where hoses chaffed, wore through, and the trucks caught fire.

Ah, good of you to chime in Dave. I almost mentioned the tipping of the cab yesterday, but wasn't sure about it. I have managed to distance myself from the LSVW fleet for the past 17 years. You, on the other hand, will have had much much more interaction with the mechanics of them on the side of roads and parking lots than all my combined experience together with them.
