Canadian Manual for C42/C45 Installation in M38A1

Hi ,

Looking for the installation manual (if there is one) for a C42 or C45 or C13 in a Canadian M38A1, please.

Not for me: I have a friend with a Canadian M38A1 with an incomplete set-up and just trying to assist.

Thanks

Mike C

There are two manual/instruction sheets required. The first if the CFTO on the installation kit into the vehicle, the second is the installation and operating manual for the radio into the vehicle with IKEE already installed.

I have the CFTO somewhere in my pile, and if I can find it I will scan the pages that I have. I may also have the radio installation/operation manual, but it may not lend itself to scanning.

we also need to know the year of the M-38A1 as the installation from early to late can be very different,

Can't answer for the date,Frank, but good point: I'll keep that in mind.

I'll just collect what literature I can for now, and sort it out when next I see him.

Thanks

Mike

The big differences I saw in later installation was that the AMU moved from the front fender onto that high mount on top of the spare tire carrier (and later to the corner mount on the rear left corner), the two BB42 batteries were omitted, the antenna rod holder was removed from the windshield, and the footman loops that held the spool of WD1 was not installed. As well, the late trucks had the Bendix power connector rather than the little power junction box, but even then I recall seeing a jeep or two that had the junction box installed.

I don't know how many of those changes were official, or if the units just didn't bother. With everything installed, you could just about forget about the back seat.

Here are the installation instructions for a M38 and 1953 M38a1. It runs off a set of batteries prior to the vehicle power hook up.

The fender antenna mount was different on the M38A1.

Here is my 1967 M38A1 when i had the C42 installed using the rear mounts.
I had a double set up but filled the extra tray with ammo box.

Look good, too. Nice job all round.

Nothing more needed, thank you: you've provided more than enough to work with.

Regards

Mike
