A few holes in floor boards????
 

Will a GPW pass a provincial inspection with a few small holes in the floor boards? If not, what thickness of steel would I need to patch the holes? I would rather just get some sheet metal and patch the holes or is there a kit to lay over top of the old floor?

In Ontario you cannot have any holes in the floor that aren't original. Original being drains etc. There can be no holes for exhaust fumes to enter the passenger compartment. The patch can be tin or fiberglass or whatever. The repair doesn't have to be pretty it just has to be sealed.

Another thing reguarding patches in the floor is that the patches must be applied on the inside not underneath. I had a car once a few years back and I had put a patch on the underside of the floor and when I went to have it safetied they failed it till I took it home and re-did the patch on the inside. The reason they said it had to be on the inside was that if someone stepped on the patch that was on the outside the persons foot could go through the floor when the patch let go, on the inside it can't

16 or 18 guage sheet metal (from memory) for the body of the M38A1. Somewhere on the interweb I read advice to use body panels from old cars/trucks rather than new metal. There are no stresses in the old stuff, it has already been worked and painted, and it is probably better steel.
