looking for info ?

Hi all
does anyone have any info or images of the No 24 Ammuntion limber that proceeded the no 27. I believe it was developed in the 1930's and used with the 18 pdr on pnuematic wheels/tyres.Is there any in preservation?

Rob

I have a few pics, but I am new on this forum and they appear to be too big to post, so contact me off line and I'll send you a few. The No 24 trailer was designed for 25 pdr rounds and is most commonly seen with the 25 pdr Mk 1 aka 18/25 pdr. The 18 pdr limber was the No 29 which came in two versions (mainly, different wheels) depending on the carriage of the gun being towed (and also with wooden wheels before mechanised towing came in). Fascinating subject. I went up to the RA museum at Woolwich (Firepower) not long ago and went through the library's pics. My main problem is that it is virtually impossible to tell whether you are looking at a pic of an 18 pdr or an 18/25 pdr!
