Comtesse de Feu - Firefly

Don't suppose there is known the census number for this tank, or possibly a guess?

Some known info, compliments to J.McGillivray:

Another tank ace not listed on the post below is Lt. Gordon K. Henry from Montreal, Quebec. In the first five days in the Normandy beachhead he accounted for seven German tanks. He commanded 3rd troop of C Sqn, 1st Hussars, and came ashore on June 6th with his Firefly Comtesse de Feu. His crew was: Tpr. Sass Seaman, loader/operator; Tpr. Archie Chapman, gunner and LCpl. Tom Reeves, driver.

On the 9th of June they took out five Panthers with five shots, and two days later got two Panzer IVs. All of the victims belonged to 12th SS. He was awarded the French Croix de Guerre avec Etoile de Vermeil for his action on June 9.

Lt Henry appears to have served with 1st Hussars for the rest of the war, but the details of the remainder of his service are unknown. In late June the Armoured Squadrons were reorganized with the Fireflies being taken away from the troop officers, and given (in the case of the 1st Hussars) to the junior NCOs of the troops. Lt. Henry's name appeared in an article entitled Tank Battle written by Lionel Shapiro which appeared in the 15th Sept, 1944 issue of MacLean's magazine.

regards,
Jack
