Please note that above drawings all relate to FBE Mk3 equipment.

Earlier FBE Mk1 & 2 had totally different bodies and loading:
Boats were carried on trailers (Les has already uploaded a picture)
Truck carried road bearer sections on a wooden trestle ramp structure.
There are quite a number of images about of earlier Mk1 / 2 trucks; if anyone has not seen them I can upload or send privately.

Bridge launched; trackways were cable hauled over cab to launch position; don't think I would want to be in the cab during this procedure!

Close Support Raft - CSR

1 Attachment(s)
Assault raft consisting of Bailey / MkV pontoons, FBE Mk3 superstructure.

Albion BY is early FBE (Mk3) unit with original fuel tank repositioned above tool box rather than production version with fuel tank at running board level. Picture probably taken at EBE Christchurch in 1943.

Les,

1. Nice to see an image of Karrier K6 (quite rare to see in photos), although sometimes seen (winch equipped) in RE use.

2. Load is 3x Stormboats with ramps (for jeeps - a bit top heavy - or 6pdr gun) from Section 4 of an Assault Equipment Platoon RASC Bridging Company.

As always I envy your photo library, always something new!

FBE linked together to form a ferry, the front end appears to be sagging a little must be a fair bit of weight on top from the two Morris gun tractors and the 8cwt Ford. The guys on the front seem unconcerned, the vehicles belong to a R.A unit of 3rd infantry division and are crossing the river Thames

Just to change the scene a little here are a couple of images of U.S bridging equipment during the build up to the Rhine crossing

David Potter 22-06-07 06:50

Les,

The first of your US images was interesting in that it is unusual to see Autocar U-8144T & Pontoon Trailer carrying a rubber trackway pontoon in addition to normal steel pontoon.

I suspect you have opened the door to a series of Brockway images which I will process when I get home this afternoon!

I think they are a bit off subject(very US), but if you have more, I am bored yet.
