Membership requirements to join this forum

To all New Users and Users Awaiting Moderation:

Due to the untimely passing of MLU's founder, Geoff Winnington-Ball, and the subsequent actions to keep this forum on-line, we have a huge backlog in vetting new users. Since many years, all new registrations will have to be approved by the staff at MLU before being activated. This is mainly done to keep spammers away.

As notified when signing up, and as posted elswehere in this subforum, the requirements to join this forum is simple as long as you stick to these few simple registration rules:
  1. All new User Names must contain your first name and surname. If this is not possible for personal reasons, you need to use at least your first name and the first letter of your surname. E.g. John Doe or John D.
  2. Include a few details of why you wish to be a part of our community, as well. You may do that in the 'Interests' and 'Location' categories.
  3. We prefer non-hotmail or non-gmail addresses. Please use a personal e-mail address. You may choose to hide your email from the membership at large, so this should not be a problem. If you do not have a proper e-mail address, apply for a hotmail or gmail e-mail address containing your name as per point 1). Catchy internet aliases designed to hide your identity will not be accepted for registration.
If you have already registered while not adhering to the points above, your account will be deleted. But please join up again as discribed above. We apologize for the inconvenience but we have to do this to minimise the risk of spammers joining this forum, and to keep the workload as low as possible for the Moderators and Administrators (who are all volunteers).

Thank you for your attention!

Hanno

To all, including the people whose application has been turned down: please bear in mind that registering with very creative user names makes it harder for us to check who you are and if you have a genuine interest in joining this forum. Having gone through 700+ user names I have seen every possible meaningless one.

I have had to turn down applications because the chosen user names showed up on spammer control sites, while in fact there were genuinely interested people behind it. A waste of both your time and ours.

And if you are from a non-English speaking country, please provide some more details as described above, as sometimes we do not instantly recognise foreign names as being genuine ones.

Thanks for your help and we hope to welcome you here soon!

Regards,
Hanno
