...and stockings for the ladies (In Ottawa)

Hello

There is an excellent play being shown at the Canadian War Museum from 21 Oct- 2 Nov called ...and stockings for the ladies.

This play is based on a series of letters written home by RCAF Squadron Commander Ted Aplin who was posted in Germany from Dec 44- July 45 as part of the Allied Occupation Force overseeing the destruction of the German Air force.

While in Germany he came across the Bergen-Belson displaced persons camp and took it upon his own initiative to help out, of course against orders.

This is a one person play and the actor Brendon McMurtry-Howlett has done an excellent job at portraying every character.

It has played in Montreal, Toronto, the Maritimes and is scheduled to go into the US.

It was written by Attila Clemann who is Ted Aplin's great stepson.

You can go to the CWM web page for more information. You can buy tickets by calling their box office at 819-776-8600. The prices range up to $15.00.

I have seen it twice so far, once in Montreal and I highly recommend it.

Don't just take my word for it; here are some links for other reviews.
