Wanted; Suspension cups.

If anyone has some suspension cups for sale, I would like to buy some.
Thanks.

ajmac 21-08-19 14:48

Andrew Rowe probably still has NOS ones Lynn, I had all mine from him a couple of years ago.

Lynn Eades 21-08-19 22:04

Thanks guys. We are working on a solution.
I will come back here if I cannot sort it.

Andrew Rowe 22-08-19 08:55

Have I not supplied you enough of the cups over the years Lynn?. I am only down to my last 100 now days!, cheers Andrew.

Lynn Eades 22-08-19 10:26

Hi Andrew, you supplied a set for my first carrier. I have salvaged what I can for this one, but need 6 more.
So in answer to you question, "no" you were six short :D

Andrew Rowe 23-08-19 08:05

So it took you 30 years to do the first Carrier....so in about 25 years time you might be ready for the next 6? , I will put some aside for the year 2044? Cheers Andrew.

Lynn Eades 23-08-19 09:42

Andrew, I was hoping to shorten the time down just a bit. You know, when you've set your self a time, then you want to beat it.
Maybe to save you the trouble of all that storage, I could pick them up early?

Old patterns

I once made sand casting patterns for this item from NOS from the late great Cliff Ladoucier.
May still have them somewhere

just wondering, what are the cups made of?

Lynn Eades 10-09-19 07:25

David, I dont know. It looks like brake lining material and
I have seen them with "Ferodo" (brake lining manufacturer) on them.
They probably contain a percentage of asbestos. I don't know but someone else may have more info.

Andrew Rowe 10-09-19 07:33

I think they look like they are impregnated with graphite , just sold 8 to Aus, cheers Andrew.

Gee, hope there's no Asbestos in them. Australian Customs have been VERY finicky about any imports containing Asbestos; clutches, brakes, complete vehicles.

Big, big fines and seizure of the items.

Customs have been just as vigilant with parts imports, either by mail or container.

There is anecdotal stories of an importer of a 1966 Ford Mustang worth AU$25,000 who was unable/unwilling to pay an additional AU$20,000 to have the car declared "Clean" and the vehicle was seized and destroyed. Besides being out of pocket for the cost of the car, on top of that he was also hit with a $5000 fine.

Still, some measly suspension cups, would they bother?

Lynn Eades 12-09-19 00:18

Tony, Isnt Australia the "home" of asbestos?
I have worked at gold mines in W.A. where we had to wear masks and wash vehicles every time before leaving the site.
It has been exported to N.Z. in all kind of building materials.- James Hardie rings a bell......

Tony Smith 12-09-19 05:27

Yup, just like Uranium. Happy to dig it up and sell it overseas, can't use it here.

James Hardie is a Dutch company now, fled offshore due to mounting asbestosis liability costs. :kangaroo
