F30 & C30 frame differences?
Can anyone help me out with this problem. I want to make a model of a Ford F30 Cab 11 using a Chev. C30 CMP frame and a Ford Cab 11 which I have.
Problem is I don't know the differences between the frames and/or the drive train. Are there any drawings which can show me the differences available? Or at least a concise explanation of them. Are the the differentials identical or are they obviously different? I'm building a Ford F30 as used by the LRDG before they started using the Chev 30cwt. Thanks in advance. Sean |
There's almost no similarities other than length. Axles, spring hangers, shocks and motor mounts all different. The transfer cases are interchangeable. I can't recall if it applies to 30cwts but early Ford 15cwt 11 cabs 4x4's did have Chev axles.

The F30S Cab 11's of 1940 often did have Chev axles. Mine has both front and rear Chev axles and I have seen other F30S Blitz's with either front or rear Chev and the other end Ford axles. This is mine which is for sale. Attachment 121419 Attachment 121420 You could build a proper LRDG replica with this one. Cheers Rick. |
