what is it??
3 Attachment(s)
Is anyone able to confirm the application of these 3 items? The first a 2 barrelled Stromberg carb CDN military surplus mid 1950s.Unusual angled mount, like a smaller version of a centurion carb. Second a bore brush, brass body, centre rotates, is it 25 pounder? Finally, pressure gauges for a Dukw perhaps?? all leads appreciated. BP

The bore brushes are of American design. It is hard to get a sense of the exact diameter in your photo...it could be 105mm or 76mm.
Carburator: The tag says it is from a White. It would apear the carb is a Stromburg UUR-2 or something similar. See here: https://forums.aaca.org/topic/329402...eds-your-help/ Generally the UUR2 are worth a fairly princely sum according to the link, with the exception of the White military truck. I wonder if the Bore brushes are for the 75mm Pack howitzer M1 (Airborne)
Post War I believe the Gun was re designated as M116? They certainly appear to be US design I have a similar style 57mm bore brush on my M1 57mm AT gun and have seen something similar for US 37mm Guns Rob |
I know that for the 105 howitzer and the 106 recoiless, the brushes were the same. I suspect that also will be the case with the 75 and 76mm guns.
Re the two gauges, the only thing that I can think of that would use pressures in that range would be for transmissions. Most hydraulic systems are much higher, and engine oil pressures along with pneumatic systems much lower. |
Thanks for the input gentlemen. Most of these items I have had kicking about for years without knowing for sure what they are for. Now I have a better idea! BP
