Another Poser, Mark (or anyone)

I just received an email from Holland, specifically Hattem, near Zwolle. It was liberated on 18 April 1945, by who the author thinks is the Canadian Scottish. Can you verify from your records? If so, I'd like to put this gentleman in touch with the regimental association, as he has a photo from that day and at least one name. They would like to contact if not this individual (if he's even still alive) but at least the Regiment, regarding the 60th anniversary of their liberation.

Thanks,

Geoff

Further to my last, the following pic, one of whom is supposedly a sergeant by the name of J.E. Dodd....

Hi Geoff;

From the Regimental History of the Canadian Scottish: "On the next day Sgt. J.E. Dodd and two of his men from the Scout Platoon made an 'offical' patrol across the river and entered Hattem. They were the first Allied soldiers to enter the town and were promptly swamped by the enthusiastic townspeople who told them the Germans had withdrawn."

Cheers :)

Thanks for the confirmation, Mark! I'll see if I can put these people together. If Sgt Dodd is still alive, the townspeople of Hattem would like to invite him to their 60th anniversary. They also have possible names for the other two lads in the photo.

BTW, the Canadian Scottish Association does have a website at http://csrassociation.homestead.com/index.html .... I shall write to them forthwith.
