The motor on this one was rusted solid 10 years ago and the tranny was apart then too. I think he just removed the side armour to use for welding iron before he realized it was useless for that. All in all it's still fairly complete.
The sale got rescheduled with our late snowfall.

I was going to take the drive out (it's about 10 hours from here) but after seeing the price last week's example went for, I think I'll save the fuel. There is another guy who is very serious about acquiring a carrier who I talked to last week. He actually drove out to the first auction that they canceled due to snow for this carrier. He plans on being at this weekends auction.

This one looks very restorable from the perspective that the front and rear armor are there and the angle iron remains for the side armor to be attached. It would be interesting to see what small parts are around the farmyard. Very often, at auctions like this, you will spot things like the storage boxes or anti aircraft brackets, elsewhere on the farmsite.

What is that colour called? (mouseturd yellow?) What little paint that is left on mine is that colour too. I would hate to think I should paint it that colour when I restore it!

That is the color they are commonly found in, but remember that they have been subject to 60+ years of sun and elements. You will find better paint samples when you remove brackets or devices from your carrier. The original color is a brownish green, or a greenish brown depending on which way you squint your eyes.

I talked to the happy new owner of this carrier today as he was towing it home. He called me from his cell to let me know. Apparently it sold for in the range of $7700.

He said he was turning the pulleys on the engine, and the tranny looked complete. All the engine covers were there too. A couple of repro plates of side armor and he will have a very nice looking carrier.
