Anyone know if a source for original style cage nuts? These are found on the nose of the Cab13 Chevy trucks.

Hi Jordan. I bought some from a company in Calgary called Bolt Supply House. Ill check the details when I get home to see if I have a reference number or brand. What size are those?

Facca here in London has sold me 1/4 and 5/16 but they are NC and the original CMP ones were NF. I settled for NC.

Wide variety of sources then and now

Hi Harry

Over the years I've seen a wide variety of cage nuts used on CMPSs and I've have the suspension that they used what they could get. So what I did was tried to match what was there. Failing that I replaced all the caged nuts in a particular area to match.

When you are looking remember to look for the bulk suppliers you may find as I did suppliers will sell you 100 for the what other sources will charge you for the 8 you need. I had lots left over, but is sure nice to open the box and pull out 5 of the 1/4x20 caged nuts when your fabricating something that needs a blind fastener.

Cheers Phil

Thanks, ive looked at the sources listed and nothing like these ones.

These ones go into a square hole on the nose, then there is 4 little tabs that fold over. On the backside the square nut is held by 4 tabs. As for the thread. The originals that ive got were 1/4" NC

This is what the modern ones look like compared to the picture with the ruler of what the originals looks like.

These are the ones o bought for the floorboards in my M38A1 (1/4” NC).
There are a couple of numbers on the sides. See photo. After thinking about it further, I may have purchased them from a company called Foothills Fasteners in Calgary. I seem to remember them being ordered in for me.

thanks Wayne, but those are the modern ones. Hopeful to find the older style ones I posted in the picture with the ruler.

I think they are captive nuts as opposed to cage nuts. I found some on a website here but you had best be sitting down: http://www.thelongolivedrabline.com/...-nut-14-20-nc/

I tried looking at the online spaenaur catalogue, but I hate online catalogues. I had an old hard copy of their catalogue at one time...wish I knew who I gave it to.

Macs and Spaenaur do not appear to have them.

I see Peter Debella Jeep parts does have them. Although at $6.00 USD each they add up.

Now to find the main supplier.

So it seems like Joes Motor Pool in England is making them. RFJP.com is selling them. Some have been ordered. Thanks all
