Charlton machine gun

I've always been fascinated with the Charlton machine gun as a locally produced weapon to counter the imminent Japanese invasion of this country during WW2 and thought a replica would look pretty good up front in my LP2a.
Unfortunately the carrier has since long gone but I did eventually get around to building my replica. There's still a couple of items to complete, pistol grip etc ,but here she is built on the bones of a 1941 Lithgow SMLE, deactivated. The action works but that's about it. Might have a go at building a gas operated one. David. |
this a very unique design. with the gas tube on the side of the weapon.

A clever Canadian inventor named Huot created a similar light machine gun in WWI using a Ross rifle.

Hi David, are you still lurking here! You must still have the disease!
Very nice effort. You are rather clever. Thank you for posting. |
