Neat vehicle you got Gilles. I saw one of these for the first time back in July.

Mule

These little vehicles are great. They are fun to drive and they are great little workhorses. I use it to tow the M38A1, haul parts and take out the garbage etc. This is one of the vehicles we will be taking to the SOMM in August, We will be building stretcher ranks and it will hold 2 to 3 stretchers hopefully we will participate in the renactment to pick up the wounded. They were designed to do this and did so in Vietnam. It was also used as a gun platform with a M60 MG and one version had a 106MM recoiless rifle. Awesome little vehicle. I plan to write an article for the CMP magazine. Gilles
P.S. The only problem with it is my wife, the minute she sees it I sit in the passenger seat!!!!!

Bob Carriere 11-01-11 03:17

...and the reason why????

...... you told her that you were getting the Mule just for her !!!!!!

....get another one for a match pair... I mean team !!!!!

What is that one for...?

Hi Gilles

What are the plans for that one...? what kind of shape is it in....?

or is it spares for the ambulance......!!!

you have toooo much time on your hands now......

Bob

Wpns 421 11-01-11 13:03

Yes Bob I have too much time on my hands. The truck is going to be our runaround vehicle for general hauling, etc and we will be fitting a snowplow to it. I have a 7.6 ft Boss that will fit perfectly. Of course, if someone offers me the right price!!!!
Overall the truck is in good shape, but needs to be repainted, as did all my new trucks but she runs great and will take very little to put her in top shape. When I picked it up in Champlain NY, it had sat there for 10 days in the snowbank but still started on the first try.
We plan on taking it to safety next week, but I need to find some good tires with a little bite. we will give it a good going ov er today. Gilles

Gilles: Is that M1008 the vehicle that I would remember as a CUCV?

Robin Craig 12-01-11 05:43

Gilles,

are the two headlamps original fitment or some POST (previous owner stupid trick) adornment.

We all know what else those lights fit.

Headlights Mule/BV 206

Yes Robin, you have it absolutely right it is post and they will be removed before we show it this year. They are about as useful as a teat on a bull moose. They give off poor lighting and have a tendency to wobble as you drive and are a pain when working with the vehicle. Now your supercat has a little (very little) brother.
On another note, I saw a BV206 up for sale in Canada, it appears to be in very good condition but I find the price is quite high. The vehicle as shown in the photos appears to be an import and not original Cdn. In your opinion what could a good to very good condition BV206 sell for(approx)?? This guy wants over $60K. I was checking the web and saw some in the UK and the prtces seemed reasonable between 19K-24k British Pound. Your comment please.

Robin Craig 12-01-11 13:37

Gilles,

when you take those lights off we would be interested in them if you can set them aside, trade or cash is fine.

Sadly your Mule would have to be clased as a distant older cousin but not a brother, as the parentage is American and the Supacat is after all British.

Re the BV206. We have a BV206 D6 which is the 6 cylinder Mecedes turbo diesel version. The CF ones are 5 cylinder diesels as far as I know. The vast majority of BVs are still the older Ford V6 gas version which just do not have the same power as ours. We paid around GBP 10,000 or less but we got it at a time when no one realised their utility.

The engine fitment will decide the price, there are alot of D5 versions ex US service and European military but there are a bunch that have been re worked and other engines fitted, these ones are for sale at high prices as you state.

A company in the US called Safety One charges ridiculous prices for reword machines.

Why dont you post a link to the for sale site and I will go have a look.

We will be coming past your door later this month or early February with ours going up to the other property.

A BV206 will be the envy of the snowmobilers in Cantley and points north. As the locals would say, "'Ey, c'est quoi ca?" (or in English, Huh?) You'd better find a reason for running a BV. It is a tool that looks like a toy and is as useful as a backhoe to the right owner.

This is our BV206 for those who have not seen it.

From left to right, in a parade in Kingston, in the snow, snow bank jumping, in a parade in Kingston alongside a CVRT Spatan to give you a sense of scale.

Nothing more fun than being dragged behind one of those on Bangy Boards with a dozen other guys. Even better is when the guy at the front of the rope falls and causes a chain reaction pile up :)

Advanced Winter Warfare Course 0301 :)

Lots of BV "Ski-Jouring".

We did manage to get the MOSV Driver Qualification as well, but I haven't seen one since.

They are quite scarce. I know there's one in Trenton which remains on the DZ.

Mule

Hi If I sell the Mule I am a dead man. My wife does not want me to sell it. On top of that the selling price would be around $8K That's what I have in it. The Mule is an A5 aluminium frame, quad steering etc.
If you are interested call David Kelone 309 696-7080/ www.militarymules.com. This is the guy I bought it from. Gilles

Yeah...I understand. I have a few cars that I am forbidden to sell! I still get flak for selling my 67 M38A1 (...my wife was a "Base Brat"...). I have seen the mules that Kelone has...nice units.

For any interested, there are THREE mules on ePay RIGHT NOW! They all look like they are in nice shape! Too bad they are in the Southern US...
