Notice... upcoming changes

I can't tell you when and will do my best to give you advance notice, but it looks like I'm going to have to switch providers. The service I've been with since when? Around the turn of the century? ... has become unreliable to the point of being intolerable. When the change happens, we may experience a day's outage, but I'll try my best to overlap service. I will give you notice, as much as I can. Questions via PM in the meantime, or email gwballATsympatico.ca... or email Karmen or Hanno.

Thank you, and I apologize for the pending service interruption... but this must be done.

Geoff

My email address is Although I don't know what I can do other than to pass on messages to Geoff if I can't help you myself. I do have some members email addresses and can reach them for you that way IF I happen to have their email address, but I don't have many members addresses as I usually email via MLU  You can try me though ;)

Before this goes down, I will back EVERYTHING up, so even if "mapleleafup.org" is down for a day or more, the Admins will have full access to all records.

Bloody nuisance, this. :bang:

Sounds like you'll be busy for a while then. By the way, how "long" does it take to back the forum up?

If you just keep me posted where things are at during the transition process (which I know you will anyways) then I can let people know if they email me asking ;)

This is sure fun.

I suspect it will take quite a while, plus, I have to backup ALL of MLU. I want a clean copy of ALL of this, then we'll make the transition for MLU alone before proceeding with the other sites.

Hi Geoff,

Is this affecting www.ramtank.ca also? I can't FTP or login tonight.

Clive,

I just ftp'd in ok right now... could have been yet another server fart when I was offline. I'll keep you posted, I'm pissed off.

I haven't migrated anything yet, have been ill and too busy. I HAVE been monitoring thigs though, and have seen little outage, although I'm told others have had difficulty getting in when the forum has been up & running with other members online.

There's a back door you can use. Email me for the address if you need it (I don't want to publish it online).

MLU access

Some days are totally trouble free, others are a problem. Yesterday I couldn't access the site at all.
I've noticed regular trouble assessing MLU at about 0615 EST, is this site maintenance time?
Would you please send me the alternate access?

Geoff,

Service is erractic and it is not getting any better, but worse. What is the risk of losing all this? I would really, really like to see this forum move to a new ISP, ASAP please!

I agree with Hanno. Service is too erratic. Feel free to bring ramtank.ca with you.
