MAC's Antique Auto Parts: business practise changed July, 2016

While Mac's Auto Parts once specialized in Ford parts, which were warehoused in Lockport, New York, USA . . . those days are over. :whinge

Employees (rumoured to be about sixty) at the Lockport address have been given notice, the parts inventory "has left the building". The sewing crew and at least one counter staff remain. How long before the lease expires . . . ?

There was a time when you could walk in with your used "take out" part, compare with what was on hand, and acquire one there and then.

Mac's was sold about three years ago, and has undergone changes. It has now expanded into Chev parts, the warehouse is located in the State of Florida, USA. You can now order parts, wait an optimistic 3-5 days for delivery to the old Lockport, NY showroom. Hope your parts were properly picked and packed, pay the NY State sales tax, and you are good to go.

There should be little impact on those who have always done mail order from a global perspective.

Little impact on mail order! Does that mean they will still put tiny little parts in really big boxes surrounded by huge quantities of foam packing?

I couldn't agree more, Jack.

Us overseas folks have had to pay huge postage bills for a large box, when the damn parts would have fit in an envelope.

I've been waiting a month now for a pair of the flathead rad hoses, and other than the initial confirmation order, I had no information on the status. Checking my account on their website produced nothing.

Just called in and the fellow mentioned that all the inventory had moved South, and that it was a bigger move than they were prepared to work through. Parts may start moving again in a week or so.

Well, at least you get a new email offer with 10% discount about twice a week
