Mystery leather strap

Any ideas on this unusual leather strap? Part number M.3., MC.7874, Strap, leather, w/piece, 1”x10”, MK. I, Muiti-Purpose Pt. The “piece” likely refers to a sliding tabular piece of leather that may have acted as a scuff protector. Most likely British origin.

Used on various things but certainly some artillery tool stowage.

Mystery leather strap

This is used to hold a rammer on the trail of a 25 Pdr Gun.
It is for sale?

I agree with Adrian... multi-use strap.
Including the 25pr. accessory needs.

The slip-on leather pad can be seen on tripod leg retaining as well as multiple other needs.

Excellent item, top quality, costly to manufacture a modern replacement.

It is just a souvenir item I have had on my “shelf of mysteries” in my office. Now it moves over to the other shelf. Thank you all for the input. I will try to track down the chap who gave it to me years ago.

Not the same strap on Sherman, those were 1.25" wide.
