Wiring help

Does anyone know where I can get the wiring for making up wiring looms for my 1940 Fords? There is someone I believe who can make up harnesses with the correct coloured wires but I would like to do it myself and need to source the various coloured wires. Any help much appreciated.

Auto Sparks will do cotton covered UPVC cored wiring and all the bits and bobs of ends and things, bit expensive mind.
Tel 01602 497211, they may well have a web site now.

Agent 'O' found a firm that made him a first class harness for the C30 at a very fair price. If he dosen't post here I'll ask next week for you

Nigel,
I can highly recommend Auto Sparks, they made me a harness for a Bedford MW with cotton covered UPVC cable as Pete described, and asked if I needed any extra cables included, of which I required flasher and stop light. The whole lot came out cheaper than you could make it because it is finished off as original and fitted perfectly.

Check their website;

Sparks are flying

Brilliant guys, many thanks for that info, I was beginning to think I would have to send to US for them and then pay all that shipping.

Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks again

Best to get a new replica if you can Nigel. Ballard had a NOS harness from Wally at Nordian Svcs before they sold the stuff off and I've had to chase several faults for him as these have probably got damp sometime over the years of storage and the conductor strands have blackened causing poor or no connection at some of the end terminations.

Also see Keith Orpin's thread "Wiring Loom" on the Old MLU Forum for another UK-based firm.

Wiring Loom

Nigel, try this one.
The Wiring Harness Co,Derby, England ( I think he may have a website also)
Tel 01332 810052, speak to a guy called Peter. Very helpful and as Pete A said, he made an excellent wiring loom for my Chevy, with all the correct coloured outer braiding and ends (£140 approx 2 years ago)

Nigel,

where you able to get in touch with the wiring harness company? I sent them a message about a harness for a F15 15cwt and never heard from them. I also tried Harnesses of Maine, but never heard from them either!

Jonathan I did speak to them by phone and they were really helpful. Am sending them down my old tattered harness for them to copy, so we'll see how it turns out.

Have discovered some interesting alterations to the original wiring harness on my SA trucks since they were right hand drive. The harness is different from the left hand drive trucks.

Also, Dirk, I have been having troubles over the last few months getting e-mails to you. Do you have any dash switches available separately? I don't have separate numbers for them.

Has anyone been able to get in contact with Dirk Leegwater? I have been trying to for about a week, through his site and this one, e-mails, pm's, etc.

Jonathan
