In the presence of the Empress and Sundry MLU-ers Jif was presented with the front left panel (vent) from an Aussie built Chevrolet Blitz as a token of our esteem for his efforts in setting up this wonderful gathering place for enthusiasts like you and I.
The panel now hangs in Jif's Man-Cave so a little part of Canada will forever be Australian.
Euan sacrificed a front shell for the exercise and I lugged it through US and Canuck customs.

I assume the ceremony was toasted with Bundy Rum and vegemite, and everyone was in a fit state to drive home. Looking forward to plenty of pictures Keith.

I was lucky enough to be able to accompany Brian Gough to the Toronto airport to pick up Keith. After a delicious steak dinner whipped up by Brian's wife Myrna, we headed for the living room and Keith's Apple lap top. A very entertaining evening was spent watching Keith's Aussie buddies and their vehicles. We also saw the odd airplane photo. We got a preview of Geoff's award and I took a photo of Brian and Keith with the panel. Keith has a great photo of Euan getting the panel and maybe when he gets home he will post it. I want to thank Keith for the entertainment, Myrna for the food and Geoff for posting the photo for me.

Keith's last remaining CMP part....
 

.... should be the correct caption for the above picture. The clearing sale held in Keith's absence was a roaring sucess, with everyone catching up with each other and marvelling at how cheap prices were. I don't know how Bob is going to get all that stuff back to South Australia in less than two truckloads, but at least the price was right! Wow, were folks impressed with all the NOS parts that walked out the door:eek: .

Eye Opener
 

I forgot to mention in my previous post that Keith's visit was a real eye opener for me. Brian offered the usual ales and we quaffed a couple as per usual. Then Myrna offered tea, yes TEA, and Keith jumped at it. My first instinct was to explain to him that it wasn't a brand of Canadian beer but before I got a chance he was sipping away. I didn't think these Aussies drank anything that wasn't made from hops. Not only did Keith slurp it back but asked for another. Is this an myth shattering revelation or are Aussies more normal than we are led to believe?

Keith had to do quite a considerable amount of training, so that he would appear normal, before he was allowed to leave the country.( eating pancakes bacon, eggs and maple syrup with a cup of tea.) The true test will come if he arrives home with a bag full of Blitz goodies to share with his mates.

Since cutting up the CGT for Jiff I have driven the Blitz every day & I must say we have had a lot of hot days of 35 +. It gets a bit hot in side a blitz but the missing panel makes for good air flow in the cab.

a CGT here my self, and I do know that if I was going to go wild with the grinder, I also would have put a pice of a flat metal on it first.....;)
they are just to presourse to cut into, it would be the same as cuting a pice out of my heart....

Ok,Ok it wasn't the Gun Tractor that got the chop. The pic is real & was taken by Katrina & yes their was a thick plate of steel to mowe into with the grinder. Out of intrest the panel now in the man cave is from a late production G.M.Holden cab with the overtank re-positioned under the front shell hence their is no holes. Well done Rolf.The side marker lamps on Chevs have the lamp moved out on the guard & the wiring runs through the guard then under the front shell hence their is no wiring hole.

While I don't post much here (except in reply to Keith's adventures in aircraft) , when I saw the picture of the grinding wheel attacking that truck, I came to the conclusion that all of you Commonwealth types are CRAZY!!:eek:


Thankfully, there was an explanation, but I'm still not sure you guys are completely sane. :p

Cutting them up
 

Hi All

Over the past few years me and my Dad have had to cut them up to fit them all in the barn. And he is still happy to buy more!

Here in the UK we have far less room than all you Canadian and Australian people. you are all so lucky!!

People look in horror when we try to bring all the trucks home for the day. Even more so the day i decided to remove the tree in the front garden with one.....
