Cougars (Flamethrowers) ????

This is from “Vanguard” the Regimental History of the Fort Garry Horse.

(p97) "Lieut. Brumwell and his enthusiastic team carried out experimental modifications in the Cougars (Flamethrowers) and were rewarded by having their recommendations adopted in the Brigade report.”

This work appears to have being carried out in February 1945. Dose anyone know what a Cougar Flamethrower is?

Cougars vs Badgers

Hi there

Somewhere in my stash o' stuff is an order from HQ First Canadian Army listing changes to the proper nomenclature for a variety of vehicles.

One line caught my eye. It said that Badgers would now be known as Cougars.

No reason given.

There are rumours that 5 CAB had turreted Rams fitted with the Wasp FT in the hull gunners position.

Was this originally a cougar?

I'll try and find that document if you like.

Steve
