WS19 in UN service

Years ago I aquired a WS19 where the case was painted white much like the UN white. It was a thorough job both inside and out. I often wondered if it actually was real or someone's fantasy. It was a Canadian MKIII with normal coloured faceplate. Anyone old enough to remember if the cases would have been painted.

Hi Bruce.

Many years ago, at Rob Love's favourite surplus yard, I ran across two or three all white cases and even a set of web retaining straps and Carriers all painted white. They had come out of a bunch of Shermans the surplus dealer had scrapped.

That would be my first guess.

I've seen some post war interior white 'spruce up' paint jobs on tanks and armoured cars. They weren't too fussy and everything got painted including canvas straps and buckles. I can see them removing the 19 set and supply unit from their cases then painting the cases, carrier, straps and all (way easier than removing the set from the carrier or the complete set including the carrier). It's common to see partly white painted control units for the same reason.
