The first item looks like Thompson / sten bracket off the upper armour plate in the rear compartment, there are a few of them from memory..

Hello richard
Thank's for your answer, I will try to find a picture of this part ,maybe on the forum
Aren't rifle brackets made of spring like on CMP ?

Best regards
Sylvain

Hi Sylvain,
The sten brackets on the MK2 are indeed spring metal with a leather lining but not sure if the Mk1 is different. I have attached a picture of them on my MK2 Sorry not a better picture but all I can find on my computer at the moment that shows it.

Hallo Sylvain,
perhaps one issue is your use of an outdated Canadian parts manual where you could be looking up British part numbers that may not cross over from some models of British carriers against the MK-I* only (Canadian) carriers?

In an ideal world you could also use the British Chilwell parts manual for look-ups as it appears your parts are coming from a British production carrier. There may be some crossover in the Canadian parts manual from 1944 with revisions, that manual is number FUC-03.

Is your FUC-02 limited to 1942 only, as printed by Ford, Canada?

You may find the first part you posted ”could” be a British weapons bracket off the inside centre rear compartment upper protection plate of a MK-II. As Richie says, it is for Thompson M.C., BREN, or Service Rifle. There would be two, one each side, placed in the middle of three similar but different numbered brackets. The image Mike G posted shows a Canadian one that uses a leather covered spring steel attached to a steel base.

Is the second part TL14106? A similar Canadian part CTL14106 is the right hand gunner folding seat bracket off the divisional wall from MK-II* 1943 design date, 1944 production year carriers.

Additionally, be aware thousands of Canadian MK-I* carriers were updated to MK-II in the UK using British made parts kits. Nigel Watson speaks to this update in his ‘Universal Carriers, Volume II’. A fine example of an updated carrier is near complete restoration in Israel, see the posts by Itzik Merkado and friends.

Happy researching ! :salute:

here is your weapons bracket part in the background of Israel Berko working on the carrier in Israel.

I am suspicious the second part you attribute to a folding gunner seat bracket is actually the (smaller) clutch pedal return spring bracket off the hull floor near the driver left foot.

However, here also is the seat bracket, again from the carrier that Itzik, Israel and crew are restoring ... see Itzik Merkado thread.

"after cleaning there is a reference on the part tl 14?44 EC&S 43"

Looking in FUC-03 parts list for a part of format 14?44,
no reference found to 14044
CTL 14144B is "support assembly - rifle - center"
no reference found to 14244, 14344, 14444, 14544,14644,14744, 14844 or 14944

2 of CTL14144 were listed as used on the C31UCW Welsh Guards Stowage, they aren't listed as being used on other models covered by the FUC-03 parts list.

CTL 14144 B

Made by Ford Motor Company, Canada, a welded steel base supporting a spring steel clip lined with leather. The leather is fastened with copper rivets.

Same location, same function as the similar British made part.

Hello
Thank you for this identification, no dought that's a tl14144
I was not sure the third letter was a 1 or 7 so it is a 1, My FUC manual is the Ford 1941-42 that's probably why I cant find those references.
This parts come from Normandy so it is possible that it is from a welsh guard carrier.

For the second part it the same as Itziks seat bracket (thank you for pics) unfortunaly it dont fit my carrier as it is an MKI with adjustable seat.

thank you again for your knowledge ! :thup2:

Best regards
Sylvain
