CMP's in Greece
 

I just found this veteran in a greek farm. It's ex-Greek Army judging from the gun holder behind the drivers back. After it's retirement from service, she continued to work as a civilian truck.
I'm going to rescue it, if all goes well and reach to an agreement with the owner.
I need your help! Please post your comments about it.. Is it worth to get it?

Welcome to the crazy world of CMP collection, restoration, etc.....

Looks to be in good shape..... has original GS box..... cab reasonably solid....roof hatch... any seats inside...... engine????

There are few C15 two wheel drive left.....

Make sure you save the "sand channel" perforated steel on the front bumper and while at it look for others like it on the junk yard..... they have good trading potential.

That yard seems to have some interesting Jeeps as well...... you may want to see it they do not have another for parts....... you would not want to separate a family of CMPs......

Welcome to the wonderful world of CMP's, from a cold and damp England.
ANY CMP is worth saving !. On the face of it, that one is definately worth saving, especially as it's a Chevy, and still has it's rear body, and looks to be fairly rust free and complete. Go for it !

What is that on the left inner guard? (inside cab)

You mean that blue canister? Nothing! The last owner had put gasoline inside, and left it there empty.

How do you find the hole scene?

They put an extension on the front of the box to fill the gap where the tool box and spare tire go. It'll likely be easy to undo.

Great find! It reminded me of the F15 I spotted on Crete some 13 years ago. Contrary to that one, which was modified and abused beyond hope, the C15 you found looks very much restorable. The sheet metal looks good, although a little bent here and there, a bonus is the cargo box is still there (albeit modified).

Main issue could be the drive line (engine, gearbox, axles). It seems it is all there, but I wonder how much (ab)use it has seen. If the 216 cu.in. engine turns out to have died, you could always think about fitting a 270 cu.in. engine out of a GMC CCKW 2.5 ton truck. The Greek Army used a lot of those, so a spare engine should be around someplace near you.

This F15 rests some 60 klm away from my summer house, so I could find it, if it's still there. Reminds me of another one, luckier though, also at Crete, who found a new home at April 2005.

Last Sunday we decided to go some 100 klm out of Athens and check what that "vintage old truck in a farm" was, as some rumors said.

It was a C15A heavily modified, as you can see from the pictures.

It is a C15A(four wheel drive)(C15 is two wheel drive)..
Looks in restorable shape and most of the stuff is there that I can see.
Get it..at least save it/..
Someone will want to restore it,.
Don't let the scrap man get it.

I agree that there are modifications - it has been modified to left hand drive, the interior engine cover is different than any I have seen, perhaps to cover a different engine.
It looks solid, not rotted out like so many I see in Canada and it has the cargo box which so often is disposed of to permit mounting something larger or heavier. Even if you don't want to return it to original configuration there are a lot of useful parts still in place.

Grant, you are right, the interior engine cover is different because it houses other than the 216 engine. According to a local old man, a..."mercedes" ..:blink:

Hi Kostas,

Great to see that F15 is still alive 15 years after I saw it! I still think it is modified and abused beyond hope, but possibly the "shrink wrapping" should preserve the useful bits for another Ford to drive again.

Don't lose that sand channel - it might be worth more than the truck! :) If I wasn't so far away I would be interested in buying it (the sand channel).
