Sorry can't help you.

It appears there is not much left in the DND for people looking for histories on their vehicles. Some individual units have some records only because somebody broke policy and hoarded everything. There are a few chaps on line here who will be able to help out a bit, but don't hold your breath. There are also a few people looking at us to have us register our units with them including a site called the Dodge M37 Registry out of the USA. I'll get mine on them eventually.

What colour are your units? The Shilo truck I have is the original Green with no updates on it.(1952 Artillery truck) It still had the unit colours on the hood and I am guessing as it sat in a yard for 20 years just over an hour 1/2 away from the base I am saying it came from Shilo. However it could also have been from 26th Field RCA in Brandon. My other truck came from 1 hr west of Wainwright, and had been painted with the prairie camo pattern in the 1970s. There were only two radio call numbers on the doors like yours. 42A was painted over with 69D. I'm not familiar with what type of unit they would be associated with. Infantry or a support unit is what I have read on other sites.

I'm just new here myself, so I am still learning how to add the photos etc.. Show us some photos of your units. That may help out a bit. Keep at it, and somebody more knowledgable than myself should be able to help you out.
Cheers
Ewen

history

Hi Bob and Ewen, you have all the history , but it will take some work to get , it's the only choice for the 50's M-series , you will need to wet sand every spot on the truck where DND applied markings , you will find most of it , many people make the mistake of sand blasting without doing the research, Eric can tell you about Colleen's 53 M-38A1 ,I've just brought home another 53 and can see some of the markings under the paint , this one was mobile command and there may be more under that ,going the unit route may not work , most units just put that stuff into the dumpster, hope this helps,
regards Frank
