Does anyone out there in cyberspace know where I could pick up the Italeri 1/35th scale of this model truck & possibly the caisson & 25 pounder??I ordered it from a California dealer who had a"limited"amount in stock about two months ago,but no luck

The Tamiya Ford quad, limber & 25-pdr have just been re-released so should be coming back into model shops soon, Hannants in the uK are saying that they have it in stock and they do mail order. £14.99 UK or £12.79 plus shipping export.

The Italeri quad is a bit more tricky - just a case of trawling the 'net I'm afraid - there are still a few around - I don't like it myself but Ebay seems to get quite a few models on it- I know afew people that get a lot of rare stuff from there.

I have a spare body and some other parts left over from conversions but not a complete kit, if they would be any use.( modify the radiator and stick the chevy body on the Ford chassis? - I know it wouldn't be 100% but the body is quite distinctive as a difference between the two)

Thanks Dave for your input.I'm aware of the Ford kit,but I'm after the Chev CMP kit as you said it's more rare.I tried the California dealer because I figured the kit would be less popular,being a CMP Cab 15.I wanted it to match with the rare C15 model I have

There are a number of people who buy up old kit collections and go to informal hobby meets. I have seen the kit you want in several incarnations and never paid more than fifteen US dollars for it. Remember that this kit was created by Peerless-Max, then sold to Italeri who licensed it to Testors. You can find it in the original Peerless-Max box; if you do, you will also get a nifty history summary sheet with photos from the Bart Vanderveen collection. The latest Italeri release is still in some shops around here for twnety-seven dollars list. The Peerless and the Testors versions have the "best" instructions.

i bought a couple of the cmp kit ,peerless italeri and one from testor, on e-bay for approx 30$ dollars each.Ialso bought the gun tractor from peerless. If you are patient you can find one.

You mean limber right?
Anyhow the 25 pdr and limber are Tamiya and NOT rare at all. Don't pay more than 20 for it. Still seen on store shelves.

As for the Italeri kit, monitor Ebay. CMP's show up 3 times a week and usually don't go for more than 20 Cdn.

Thanks for the input guys.Will look on E-Bay.How do I get in(junior at this stuff).Aside to Don-Is a caisson like a limber but towed with horses in the RCHA.If so forgive my expression!!

Sounds like the terms limber and caisson might have been interchangeable, depending on the time frame. See the first definition in Concise Oxford Dictionary, viz:

Ammunition chest or wagon;

The other definitions relate to large watertight cases open at the bottom, from which water is kept out by air pressure, used in laying foundations under water

From an ex-gunner - I've never seen the term caisson applied to anything later than pre-WW1 or British, but the two terms are basically the same.

Caisson is more usual I beleive on the continent - in Napoleonic times the French used caissons and we used limbers!

I thought (I know, God help me) that the caisson was the two-wheeled trailer (?) mounting two ammunition chests and towed BEHIND the limber.
