T-16 Swiss items wanted
Hey guys I am looking for some T-16 Swiss items that I am told most collectors get rid of as they restore thier carriers to original T-16 config. I live 3 hours from Southeastern Equipment Co. (Now SECO) where all the T-16s came into the United States. I almost bought one in the 70s but I was in the Miltary and got orders for Germany and couldn't pull it off.
Did anyone keep their Swiss mod old armored style turn signal? I am also looking for the large Swiss gas tank and the Swiss canvas top and bows. I am new to the forum but not new to Military Vehicle collecting. I live near Atlanta Georgia. Thanks, Respectfully, Knox Herndon ><> Cell 678-665-3623 Home 770-719-2365 |
David aka "Horsa" may be worth speaking to as he is probably the authority on T16's here at MLU. he also restored his T16 from Swiss config so may or may not have the mods he removed for sale ? or perhaps know where to get some.
Cheers |
Knox and I have already talked about his restoration project. All of my Swiss mods were either given away or were beyond salvage from heavy rust, people having shot them up or my cutting torch in the case of the armoured turn signals.
Doubt that SECo has anything left either. I'd spoken with them on the phone a couple of years ago when they still had a few damaged wheels laying around. In addition to all of the vehicles they had imported, they got all of the NOS spare parts. With nobody interested in the items at the time, which was before civilians really had access to the Internet, most was sold for scrap metal. This included at least one 40' container full of track. Really sad but I guess their business is to flip items quickly and not store them for the long haul. Anyway, back on Knox's project. He also needs the Swiss roof bow holding sockets that bolt onto the T-16 wading squares. |
zimmerman has one in gatesville tx he may be willing to sell (bows)

Hi Knox
I'm living in Switzerland and I think there are only 2-3 T16s left here (sadly), at least 2 are runners, 302 units were bought and sold in the 1960s. I don't think that here are any spare parts left you're looking for. You'll probably have to copy them. Attached is a rare pic from a period postcard. I think somewhere in this forum is another thread about Swiss T16s. The only thing I could help you is with period photographs. Just drop me a pm. Greetings from Switzerland Chris PS If you also need the special Swiss numberplate (eg M+82778), replicas are produced here. Cost around CHF 130 plus shipping and you can choose the number you'd like. The T16s carried a number between M+82519 and M+82815). |
