Rifle brackets cab 12/13

I am going to make up some extension pieces for the rifle brackets in the 12 and 13 cabs.

Can someone give me the length of them for the different cabs please?

I know there has been mention of this recently but I cannot find the thread.

Many thanks
James

Rifle bracket extension dimensions

Hi James,

Is it like the bracket in the attached photo? If so I will get the dimensions for you and post it here.

Do you also need the dimensions of the barrel clip at the top?

That piece looks to be made from spring steel so may not be the easiest to fabricate. It is a different style clip to the ones attached to the shorter versions.

Cheers,

Hi Jacques,

It is the lower left part of the bracket shown. It bolts onto the cab wall and has the sprung rifle bracket then bolted to it.

I have a local firm which can make up the rifle brackets in sprung steel. They made a batch a few years ago and I'm about to have another load made. They did a super job.

Thanks
James

I think this is a photo of the type in a Cab 13:

Hi John,

Thanks, that's the one.

I am sure there is a difference in length between the two cab types.

bracket length

Hi James,
This subject came up on HMVF recently, you will find the two lengths here;

Different size....

The size difference in the CMP trucks is due to the different height of the back wall of the CMP cabs......

The cab 11/12 back wall is lower in height than the cab 13.... so to accommodate the same size .303 rifle the bracket is longer. There is also a difference in the screw/bolt holes.... some with 3 holes as on a cab 11 and some with 2 holes as for the cab 13. It seems that earlier models had rubber covering the spring steel clip while later models used leather.

There are also various other rifle bracket models depending on the vehicle in question.

Cheers

Hi Richard,

Thanks for that. I knew I had seen it somewhere, I was just looking on the wrong forum!

Upper part of rifle holder.

I am having some brackets made for the upper part of the rifle holder. This is the arm that the leather covered spring clip bolts too. If you're interested let me know. I am getting both the longer cab 13 and the shorter cab 12 ones made.

No idea on price yet, it depends on how many I end up ordering. These will be exact copies of originals.
