That is part of a bridge. This was taken at Goudhurst in Kent.
Regards Richard

That's right Richard, I knew it was in Kent somewhere.
Not seen that body type before ,is it a pontoon body ??

Ford f60h

Hello

I's the first time a see such truck with these kind of load.
It's seems to be a FORD CANADA F60H with the last axle non driving and a frame of 134 inches and a cab number 11.
These trucks were used with technical body or bridge layer or with a HOLMES cranes; If you are interessed I own pic of each kind of body used by these trucks

I think its this type a 8H1 body, taken from drive to victory

Alex van de Wetering 06-01-20 21:56

Excellent picture, Rob!

I agree with Niels.....it does look a lot like a SBG bridge carrier.

does anyone know the source of this picture.......and if there is a bigger version of this picture available on the web?

... which leads to this site where the picture came from, which credits it to the Rex Cadman Collection of Glass Plate images:

Hi Rob,
About 30 years ago, I bought a copy of that photo taken from the original negative, along with a couple more from another nearby village from a guy with a stall at a local show. When magnified there is a lot of detail in them. This collection that you linked to now belong to Rex Cadman under the War & Peace name.
I have driven my Bedford QL down that street many times.

regards, Richard

Rob, Hanno, Richard,

Thanks for the source and additional info. Lovely to see a rare picture of an F60H in action.....and also good to see another example of the census number on the doors painted at an angle!

by the way....amazing to see that the street hasn't changed a bit!

Alex

That looks a lot like the Trestle and Sliding bay body(?). One of a million bodies used for Bridging.

Yes, that's the one - thanks!

Searching for Trestle and Sliding Bay I found this post in the thread military bridging.
