I bid on this one on ebay but didn't get it. I'd like to know a bit more about it.
Here's what he said about it:
Very interesting DWS "Masta DeLuxe" crystal radio. Used by Benchley group in England during WWII I believe. Do not know how to work it but seems to be in great condition. Wooden box is 9x 7.
It looked to be in great shape too.

Well David you probably saved yourself some money. It is very unlikely this was ever used as a spy radio. It is a crystal set from the 1920s. Masta was a brand of the Master company. These were made to tune the broadcast band.

If you meant Bletchley (rather than Benchley) this certainly wasn't used by them. Their messages were sent in morse code on shortwave bands and this set has no means to read CW. Being a crystal detector it isn't that sensitive. The only possible use would be to listen to the BBC Home Service on the AM band if you were in Europe near the coast. I wouldn't want to be caught with a British receiver though. :)

Thanks for the reply Bruce. I had a few doubts about it too. I bid $100 on it and it went for $262.
