Here are a few pic's of a MK 1 Universal Carrier I got from up north Ontario. What an adventure, it took the dozer almost 3hrs to get in the bush to where the Carrier was at from the road. We entered the bush at 8:30am and finally got out of it around 3:30pm.

It was an adrenelin packed day or should I say two days because we started out at midnight on Friday and finally got home Saturday around 3am, or should I say Sunday morning at 3am. All in all it was worth it, I can't wait to get to the restoration!!

Excellent find

Wow! That's a really great find. Well done.

Now your pain starts  Be sure to post every detail, please.

All I ever find off the side of the road is empty beer bottles & dead kangaroos!

colin jones 16-07-12 12:06

Yeah, those Kangaroo's sure do drink a lot. :kangaroo:blink:

I don't want to hurt your feelings, it's best the location stay classified!

chris vickery 17-07-12 03:48

Thats alright. Maybe there is something more to this so I fully understand.

Here are some markings that are on the carrier, any taker's on what they are?

maple_leaf_eh 17-07-12 05:31

I think the third one is Central Command, ie Ontario. The others are too far gone for my not-so-keen eye.

NEW mk 1

Could you please put up a photo of the dipstick holder in the 3rd pic of the second set.
Thanks
Roberta
Looks like my carrier when I found it, but mine was missing engine and cover and my glasis plate is intact.

Nice find. What note did you get when you whack that track with a hammer? Was the track seized up when found?

The tracks were alittle seized but they moved after a bit of banging around, the problem was the brakes are siezed and wouldn't release, not even after dragging it for about 3-4kms through the bush over rocks, bridges etc!! :bang:

I will take a closer pic of it and post it for you.

I used a slide hammer to get my drums off, had to pick the asbestos seals out the back of the drums first though, took a while but I got there without having to apply heat

J Henry 19-07-12 11:46

Thanks Michael, great info, I'm going to check my MK.1 when I get home today. I will take pics of the fuel dipstick hold too! LoL!
