1919A4 30 Cal

Looking for a 1919A4 30cal that is deactivated in Canada.

The newly-manufactured, semi-auto only, 1919s are legal for import as non-restricted firearms.

Ralph Volkert 30-09-11 18:00

There is a beautifull one at Kenagami Gunshop here in Northern Ontario. It is deactived internally and is complete including tripod and sights.
Peter is asking $4500 but considering The butchered one I saw go for $3500 at the Peterborough militaria show it is worth it.

I am up in that nieghborhood at least once a week if you want pics or contact info let me know.

He is apparently thinning out his significant collection some of which is on display at his store.

Guys have been waiting a few years now to get a hold of any new imports. The US state department would not let any out because they are non-sporting firearms. Apparently the rules have been relaxed a bit of late and marstar expects to possibly get in another batch eventually.

I have one of the early imports and with it's non-restricted status and legal 250 round belts, it is the most fun a guy can have in Canada with his pants still on. :)

M1919 & other dewats

What ever happened to the inventory of Kearns & Mcmurchy in Edmonton. I visited the shop twice before the you know whos closed it down.
The shop had vickers, brens, M1 carbines, and a host of other dewats.

Peter's shop was a dream come true for a collector. I bought one of his first M1919A4s which was part of custom's court case against him. I still have the suretee du Quebec evidence tag from that gun, although the gun is long gone.

Peter's last shipment was siezed by customs (again) and the last time I talked with Peter a few years after he closed the store he was hopeful he could still get them released. His suicide a few months later put an end to that.

What a sad story you bring to mind. Peter was harassed and hounded by Customs officers and so-called technical experts whose only purpose in life was to prevent his case from getting anywhere close to Court. No matter what he proved, there was some government-paid lackey (ie. a bureaucrat doing a powerful master's bidding) throwing a wrench into the works. The fact he was in Edmonton and the Customs office in Montreal only made the dispute more bitter and antagonistic. Sad. Sad. Sad. And people wonder why the administration of justice is such an adversarial business.

Peter actually won that first court case against him. Apparently some of the custom's paperwork had changed from the time it was made to the time it was presented in court. Peter had his copy of the original with him at the trial. Needless to say the judge was not impressed. The judge was impressed with the Vickers that had been seized, and remarked to Peter about what a beautiful piece it was. Hard to find judges like that anymore.

Peter had his truck stolen one day, and promptly reported it to the Edmonton police. He then had the truck tracked through it's GPS and lo and behold it was at the RCMP garage having devices installed into it.

In many ways though Peter asked for trouble, and was never afraid to present an "in your face" argument with the authorities.

Garmack: Is your M1919 a dewat or a working semi? Either way that's a good price in this day and age.

BTW, I have a few spare tripods with T&E and pintle if anyone is looking.

Casey B 02-10-11 19:33

Hi Rob... the pintle is for the 30 cal.? I'd be interested in that and the bracket for the side mount if you have one kicking around...if the two work with each other. If i had the money Id go for the 1919 as well but still working on getting the old girl running first. My 53 had the side mounted bracket on it but sadly the crown assets guys removed it before the sale. I know it should have had the centre mounted weapon but didn't... Lots of spent rounds under the gas tank though! Email me if you have any details Rob Thanks!
Hey BTW welcome home!!
Casey

The tripod, pintle and T&E are for when the gun is removed from the jeep and ground mounted. It was a different pintly on the jeep mounted GPMG arm.

There are remnants of the arms out at my favorite mil scrapyard, but after supplying them for years to the different guys on this board, the supply has just about run out. If you have your heart set on one, I could see whats left.

Casey, I Have the side mount attachment for the 1919a4 - Z-bar and brackets if your looking for one. I purchased this kit a few years ago but never did use it, if your looking for one PM me I would sell it, your kinda close by so freight wouldn't be to bad.

Paul

Hey guys - saw your thread onthe M1919 - I'm looking for the E6160 M1919 out found commonly on Canadian and British Shermans - ever see one in a shop or collection for sale.....I have lots of trade that may actually make it across the border in trade and cash.....needed for a staghound restoration...in the final stages.

Robert Bergeron 24-12-20 19:01

Dan , the tread is 9 years old .....

BradB 28-12-20 22:40

Better to revive an old thread than start a new!

There's a 1919A4 with Tripod up at Collectors Source right now:

http://www.collectorssource.com/browning-1919a4.html

And another with no tripod:

http://www.collectorssource.com/brow...el-1919a4.html

4K and 3K respectively - not connected with their business, just a pleased customer.

Brad
