c-15 frame stamping?
 

A quick question... Does the C-15 have a serial number stamped into the frame anywhere? Or is the only "serial number" on a dash data plate?

Truck transporter firm is having indigestion that the chassis doesn't have a number stamped in it.

Coming from Canada to the US...

Have the Canadian title documents... but the shipper/broker isn't happy with just that.

Any thoughts?

I have seen civilian trucks with the serial number stamped on the top of the frame rail between the firewall and front bumper. I would not be surprised if wartime trucks were not stamped. In wartime production volumes were more important than stamping numbers.

Good luck on a frame number. I had heard of it being done on CMP trucks but I have never seen it in reality. The data plates on the dash are the identification numbers.
It’s an antique vehicle, built during wartime. Explain that to the shipper, like it or lump
it.

Lance’s C15A is ex-John Hotson (note: it is not a C15). AFAIK it has a clear title which should list the VIN (serial number). The easiest way is to have the number stamped on the frame, then to have it shipped, imported and registered.

Normally, ex-factory there was no number stamped on the frame, but many did have the number stamped postwar for registration purposes.

Guys the rules are rapidly changing with all the liability issues in moving vehicles both for the shipper and the receiving jurisdiction. I recently was involved in doing Mechanical Fitness Inspections on two vehicles being shipped from Ontario to British Columbia. Two different shippers had the same requirements. I know we can still use Joe's Transport but this is probably a sign of things to come.

The customs broker spoke with the supervising agent at the border, it has a serial number on the engine, which matches the paperwork, so will allow it over minus VIN stamping on the frame or data plate, thanks to all who have responded.

Mine was on top of trans bellhousing[F30] BUT ground off! Then I was told to look on top of right frame rail just behind cab? USA Civilian # were on top of Left frame rail [3 times] First in front of firewall. Hope this helps. Dave N Oregon USA
