Snow begins
Hi Bob
Thought pictures was the way to go with this one: View from the front window on a clear day with distances http://canadianmilitarypattern.com/R...0distances.jpg Snow at 8:30 AM Friday visibility about 1.3 miles http://canadianmilitarypattern.com/R...13%20Storm.jpg We'll see how it gets. http://canadianmilitarypattern.com/R...013%20noon.jpg There restoration tie in for this is that I just came in from the shop after clearing every thing out from around BEAUTY my C60S so that if the snow gets really deep we can still get out. The problem when we get heavy wet snow over 24" is that it will slide off the roof of the garage leaving a 3' to 4' pile in front of the doors blocking both our daily driver 4x4s in. Not uncommon to have to use the C60S to break out the drive way so that my blow truck can actually plow. Yes, I should plow with the storm and never let it get more than 6" deep but who wants to get up in the middle of the night. I'll keep you posted. Cheers Phil |
State of emergency has been declared....
.... for most North Eastern coastal states.
Ottawa got about 10 inches....but a fair amount of drifting in my rural areas. Cars in ditches.... one poor guy ran off the road outside of Sarsfield.... now typical telephone posts are about 100 yards apart....darn it he managed to clip one right in two pieces. So tomorrow we blow snow...... it is deep enough at the barn the belly of the Hyundai was dragging Canvass Winter shelters (7) are not doing too bad as the wind as kept too much snow from accumulating. Will find out if Phil had to sleep in the Beast by this time tomorrow night. Keep warm. Bob |
Big Storm but not the biggest we've seen
Hi Bob
Well it is still snowing 24 hrs. later with a goodly accumulation on the ground. Not the deepest we have seen though so no record, I have not been out to measure yet but it will be hard to measure because it has been drifting in off the lake, some places less than a foot others look close to 3 feet. http://canadianmilitarypattern.com/R...0Hrs%20003.jpg Visibility is down between 500 and 2000 feet depending on the wind. The plow cooperative came through and plowed the driveway twice during the night so we now have 5-6 high piles in the door yard. The driveway coop opens the drive but will not plow with in 4-6 feet of building so I still have clean up to do after they are finish. Also have to wait until after the snow slides off the garage and barn roofs to clear the doors. I'll post more pictures after I go out. Cheers Phil |

Measuring Up
Just got back from the Hammond Barn. We only got about 7 and 1/4 inches of snow (as measured in the lee of the barn). It is bright and sunny with a hint of wind. We got off lucky. More later under the Hammond Barn thread.

Last Post on the Storm
More hype than storm around us, 24-32 but as we had no snow on the ground not as bad as we have seen.
I'll Start a new New Hampshire CMP Barn 2013 Thread when I get back to working on the CMPs. Cheers Phil |
