Rhine Crossing photos

Here is an interesting set of photos of the British Army crossing the Rhine in 1945.

Great series of pics John! Thanks for putting us on to them. The pics I found most interesting were the Sappers clearing mines. We still use the same mine tape to this day to demarcate mine fields...that is, when we're not out of foot powder, the other field expedient method!
Can anyone identify the small dozer being used to build a roadway? It's quite small and would be relatively portable. I'm interested in having it I.D.'d. I was also surprised to see the Sherman DD's retaining their flotation curtains at this point in the war. You'd think they'd be badly holed by this point and useless. Thanks again!

The Dozer

The dozer you asked about is the D-2 quite a handful
when running a critial cut.I would have thought a bridging
outfit would have had something larger. What is quite
interesting is picture # 18 is as described by the author
as an M2-M5 honey has a blade on it.

That is because they are "About to cross the Rhine, March 24th 1945", as per the caption...

Thanks for the pics, John!
