Great site - very interesting.

I got a load of data from the UK National Archive this week - "15cwt 4x4 Armoured Personnel" - hoped it related to the White Scout Car.

"Unfortunately" it's all about the Canadian GMC Armoured vehicle - loads of blueprints for the wireless fit out - good clear photos too... and data about putting them into the Hamilcar glider.

Absolutely useless material from my point of view!

Tim - you must be joking.

I would be happy to scan the material and make it available to MLU members. Email sent.

Yes - am joking!

The material is excellent - not what I was expecting or hoping for though - but it gives a detailed clear fit out for the WS19HP and WS52 radio sets and the modifications required to load into a Hamilcar.

The clear pics for the wireless fit out give me a good hint for how the same equipment may have been fitted into the White Scout Car.

I also got another document - loading the vehicle into a Bristol Freighter - just photos.

Am happy to share this data - it didnt cost me much to get.

Total file size around 250mb at the moment - this can no doubt be reduced by sacrificing a little quality.

Maybe best to dump it onto DVD and post to you?

Let me know on PM.

Cheers

Tim

I once bought a reproduction of a manual that shows up regularly on eBay that specifically included Fitting Instructions for the WS 19 in Trucks 15cwt 4x4 personnel (White Scout Car) thinking it might be for more "normal" trucks such as CMPs. The search phrase that I put into eBay.co.uk today to see if the manual is still available was "FITTING MANUAL WIRELESS SET WWII NO 19 1945" and it turned up 2 current listings and 3 completed listings in the last 3 months. The images in the listing are rather small so you might want to confirm with the seller that it does apply to the 15cwt White Scout Car (also the half track).

Hi Tim,

I have a copy of the wireless manual for fitting the No 19, 19HP, 19/19, 19 HP./19 in Trucks 15CWT 4x4 Personnel (White Scout Car) and Half tracks.

It is nearly all about the White. It has fold out pages with a multitude of wiring possibilities.

I also have a C15TA, so would be interested in your data.

Send me a PM. I am away from a computer untill Wed pm.

Thanks for the data - I have a copy of the WS19 manual from the ebay seller already - and scans from an original - they are certainly useful - and it would be great to find an original of this one day.

But... the one I need is for either the Canadian WS9 or WS52 fitted across the rear of the WSC by the Phantom units in NWE 1944.

I know this was used with switchboard charging C5 - need to know where to fit this, where to put the batteries - other than that visible in the photo - would the wiring be in conduit like that in the C15TA pics I have, etc.

Will send all the data I have to Hanno so he can upload it here for everyone to enjoy... will also ensure Brit AB museum at Duxford have the data too - clearly after Arnhem the airborne forces experimented with bigger armoured vehicles by glider.

Cheers

Tim
