Interesting information, Mike.

When I did some research a few years ago into a local wartime RCAF Wireless and Gunnery School, two thirds of the instructors were civilian Amateur Radio Operators. Where ranks were noted with the Military Instructors, the Amateur Radio Licences were referenced for the civilians.

Makes one wonder, if the ‘repercussions’ had not been in place for the German Hams, how much more useful research and development might have taken place. Fear has a tendency to make one rather conservative.
