Hi Forum, I am looking for the dashboard light and power socket for service light, they are missing from my MkII* Carrier. If anyone has something please let me know! Thanks Frank

LwD Parts have both, if that helps:

There was a complete one on eBay for a while recently. I tried to find it to post a link, but had no success. It may still be there.

Well spotted. Similar, priced sharp, has potential.
Here are two images of the lamp being sought, the third image shows one installed but missing the bulb hood with window. The last image shows the part being offered by Stefan at LWD.

Tony, Tom. Michael thanks for the help and great pictures, the one from LWD (Stefan) might be a good base to make something out of... Frank

There's a similar reproduction one here, with the bulb hood. Price seems high for repro, though. I bought one for the 11-Cab, but don't recall paying as much as that!

The NOS example Michael posted is the correct one.

One thing to keep in mind if buying a tractor one. They work just fine. However the original carrier ones are two wire with an insulated socket. The tractor ones are a single wire with the socket grounded. I believe the LWD Parts lamp body is also single wire.

Interestingly my Otter used the same lamp and mount however with the Hamilton Bridge Company part number (A163) and 42 stamped for the year. The Otter uses the single wire lamp.

You would buy that British lamp for your MK-I*?

Owen.

You can find them in America at USD $29.00 +-. Getting it posted to the UK is another matter.

FYI, the pre Universal (British carriers used a light very similar to the Canadian U.C. one as posted by Michael R.
I guess the Canadians copied the ones supplied for the British contract carriers and then the Brits changed to the alloy one?

Tom, you are correct, that lamp is correct for an early British carrier, here is a pic of two original dashes I had, I would think they were also used on very early Canadian carriers when components were sent over early on.

Petr Brezina 25-02-20 21:23

Not only early, also the late ones.

Ben 25-02-20 22:25

They are late British dash lamps. Early UC and pre UC use a civilian Lucas lamp.

Frank,
Found it today, original '44 dated and seems unused. The hood is split in two places but repairable. Will be in touch by email.
Mike
