WRITERS in MLU?

Hi People,

I know that some of you are writers in here ... and have had their writings/work published. MLU, as we all know, is loaded with people of knowledge and talent ... and wisdom. Who are you Authors and what have you written? :)

I also know that many people probably have some expressive or creative writing they've done, a poem, some prose, a short little story, in context of MLU Focus (WW2) ... wanna share that with us in this thread?

I personally have nothing to share at the moment, but if this thread gets going I'll certainly add something to it too.

I know that Geoff is an extremely powerful and beautiful writer ... ;)

 Karmen

A spoonful of Vegemite helps the words go down ... salt though? Guess that would work if your old heart can take it

Hmmmmm

I just had a flash idea  about how great it would be to have a Book of stories written by MLU-ers about their own service or relatives who served as, or with, Canadians during WW2 ... of course if I were to add a story it would be about my Uncles, especially Uncle Eddie ... yes ... it would be nice ... an MLU-ers Remember book ...

Okay you-all ... you've all had your little fun (with a couple of serious replies tossed in) ... now lets get a little "seriouser" here ;) ... I was sort of sincere about wanting to know who is into writing in here, and maybe if you're published.

Also ... if you're into sharing something you've written ... a poem, a song, a bit of prose, memories ... something you've written?

This, I guess, may not be the "right" kind of thread for MLU, but what the heck ... I push the envelope everywhere else ... why not here too. Admin can always ban me right?

Well, if you really wanna know I did write a book once, never published but sold a few on CD via Ebay. A beginners guide to making small-scale military vehicle models.

Aha ... someone who takes me seriously! :D

Thanks for your reply Dave (and say hi to Chrissie please? :) )

I think there are some folks in here who make models. I've never done that so I know absolutely nothing about it ... am still trying to learn how to be sociially correct in military communities like this ... how am i doing? Shhhhhh ... I know, I know, I've got a long way to grow

I've never written anything I've completed or put "out there" ... maybe one day. The very least I'd like to complete is a simple writing about my Uncle (s) ... and family trees and little bios ... but other than that, I used to think it would be a huge challenge, and a gas, to write a one act monologue play, and act it. Before I die ... perhaps I will ;) (It won't be about Tim Tams or involve frying pans) :D

:salute:

Back to semi-serious

I can't be completely serious of course...

But yes, I have a small amount of published material in Flightpath magazine and I'm writing an article about my uncle.

Of course there's quite a lot in the documentary video genre too!

I think your obvious talents in this more than make up for writing... :salute:

Good luck with the article!

Keith Webb 21-08-05 21:21

Now cut that out!

Otherwise I won't be able to get my head trough the door...

But thanks for the sentiment, Jif.:salute:

On another note, you only need browse some of the posts here by others to see the calibre of writing is high. That's just another thing which makes this forum so interesting, informative and entertaining.

Descending down the literary ladder, may I offer...

Cheers from Limerick.

There's writing and there's writing.

I've had tons of stuff published in one form or another, a lot of it anonymously, but nothing relevant to MLU and its subject matter.

My work is on the editing more than the writing end of things these days.

Working on one or two on-topic things at the moment, but haven't made much headway with them.

Cool :) It seems there are a lot of people out there who are into making these models. I've seen some models here and there and have been impressed by how realistic they look, for such small-scale.

Have you sold off all your copies? Or do you burn copies as required?

Your DVD's are awesome Keith. By the way, I know you narrate them, therefore is it safe to assume that you also write the scripts for your narrations in them? You're voice and expression is perfect for narration!

I hope that when you've finished the article about your Uncle that you'll let us know it's completed? :) I know that I'm having a sort of mental/fear block about attempting writing my projects :(
