Figures
I ran the same Ford V8 in my SnoGo, and although it was a nice V8 sound, the setup of the whole engine was a little Heath Robinson to me - and as for having water pumps as engine mounts - and bolts down the centre of the water pump bore - sigh.
My garage is all Dodge / Chrysler straight six now - at least I understand them, and properly set up they can be Swiss-watch quiet. Nice to see this one going though. I assume complete and loaded with all the kit it would be at least a little quieter. Gordon |
Gordon they are Bl**dy noisy inside, but very quiet outside (when driving on grass). Richie is right all you can hear is the consant clatter of the track and roar of the fan.
Its back on with the work now the fun of the first run is over. |
Looks like good fun, great that its going so well makes me want to buy one to restore. :)
|
Shaun,
Great work in a record time! So, this is carrier no.[?] which you have restored after literally digging it up? Good to see you've left the rust pitting - she's an experienced girl who wears her age with pride, eh? Hanno |
Shaun,
Great work! I just stumbled onto this thread today and got to enjoy your year's worth of labor in 15 minutes. Hats off to you and others that save these rigs that are in very tough shape! :salute: Chuck |

Shaun congrats on the enormity of the task you have undergone... if you need any axtra crew / drivers this June let me know hahahahha you just need to obtain some track now so you can have both carriers running together... are you going to paint them in the same scheme ?
all the best for xmas and new year too ......and that goes to everyone folks |
Now that is a good film, lots of carrier shots in it.
Im fine for track Richie, i have a set back in the yard nearly ready to fit. most of it is very nearly new. Hanno i think this is numbe 5 on the carrier restoration, i should be getting the hang of it by now. Alpine - go find one and buy it , you wont regret it. Once again guys thanks for all the comments, glad you are enjoying it. |
Too many Ferrets at the moment, driving Ricks at Beltring was great fun having it stall on the entrance to the field was great fun not. Great fun all the same
|
I heard about you and the muddy spot in the field from Rick !! HA HA HA HA Ferrets are good to own as well !!! i have had a few of them as well. Have you seen Rick latley, he has a few RB spares for you.
|
I spoke to him yesterday I owe you a few drinks well more than a few drinks much appreciated
It was good fun that, I don't think the land rover owner next to us appreciated it though a bit of mud got on his vehicle. I wish I'd known earlier that it would upset him I 'd have done a proper job on it  |
andy that manic expression on your face as you span the carrier round and round in the mud will stay with me for some time.
i've always thought that it's the quiet ones you need to be careful off !!! |
