I still think it is an injustice that Mrs H has been into the tunnels, and I have only driven over the blessed things!:(
What I need Maxie is a pair of head gaskets & any advice on freeing stuck valves...
What is the recommended head gasket material? Does anyone have a new part number?

She obviously runs without the use of all cylinders; remove the heads and cut the offending ones off with an angle grinder so they don't interfere in future.;)

As for your other question, gasket material - you know that white PVC used for wood glue? Alternately you could use gaffer tape. That'll stick to anything.

what I done once was soak the valves with oil and then with all the plugs out had some one push the starter button while I taped the stuck valve down in time with the engine through the plug hole
first I made sure that the valves would move a little, they may not close up at first but I never give in.
Other wise you gunna have to take the head off if they are stuck hard.

Looks like an egg and teaspoon holder ie the egg goes in the big dished hole the tea spoon stands in the little one and serve :fry:

I've got James' problem I only get boxes with photo ID numbers.
I've finally got them, the security settings were playing silly buggers behind the scenes.

G'Day All,
While nosing around on my Uncle's farm a couple of weeks ago, I came across (among other things) the tailgate from my F15! Exciting enough, but last week while I was home from work a bit crook, I noticed that there was remnants of a TAC sign still attached.
So today I attacked it with the wet & dry. Any ideas from our group of those in-the-know?

In this one, I have bumped up the contrast & dropped brightness

So, I make out red upper, blue lower, separated by a white band & white band at bottom.
The number at the bottom appears to be "415".
About all I can make out at the top is a "5"
Any ideas?

Red & Blue horizontal is artillery, 415 is HQ L of C Area Camp Staffs (normally a black background) white stripe at bottom is L of C area vehicle marking.

Probably (this is a guess) a truck belonging to a L of C HQ camp AA battery.

Sorry Howard...L of C = Line of Communication

All of Australia was broken up into areas called Line of Communication areas. These were the HQ's and fixed camp troop units such as workshops, AA protection, Ambulance/medical units and hospitals etc.

The white band at the bottom often had black letters denoting which state the L of C unit was from like 'Q' for Queensland etc. :thup2:

below is a photo of a 1/35 Australian Pattern CMP Ambulance I made. The unit sign on the passenger (RHS looking from front) side of the bumper shows that this is an ambulance unit (487 on red/green diagonal) from a Queensland Line of Communications unit. (white stripe with 'Q' in it) It also belongs to a Headquarters unit as it has the Rising Sun Tactical marking above the passenger side headlight.

Howard your truck may not have been a L of C unit truck but a 'Corps' truck with the white bar.
