Lever - control brake question?
How can the parts be distinguished when there is no catalog number marked?
CTL 4054B / CTL 4055B / CTL 4056B / CTL 4057B Thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2019 |
These numbers relate to the four different bell cranks found in a carrier.
4054 is left front 4055 is right hand front 4056 left hand rear (under tool box) 4057 is right hand rear. The rear ones have the short arms. The front ones have the longer arms. I hope that helps. |
Fuel tank Measurements
1 Attachment(s)
Hi Michael R. I have seen your answers to Tom Millward regarding length of fuel pipes, I would like to ask do you have Details/Measurements of fuel tanks and mount parts? as you can see we work hard and persist in reconstruction of our BC.
Thanks in advanced. Happy new year 2019. Israel |
Hi Israel,
I am currently borrowing a fuel tank from another member of this forum. I will take some measurements and draw you up couple of diagrams. Let me know your email address and I will send something over to you, with some photographs. John W on this forum makes the fuel filler necks and caps. I have just managed to make a reasonable facsimile of the fuel vents by hand working a 30mm brass round bar. Regards, Tom |

Hi Israel,
I have attached a drawing of the Right Hand fuel tank from a Mk1* Carrier which another member has kindly lent me. If you require any other dimensions let me know. Attachment 104581 |

Gauge - oil pressure - engine unit
1 Attachment(s)
Can anyone help with parts, where i can buy them?
A. 9278B Engine unit - oil pressure gauge. B. 26491/123 Speedometer cable comp1ete. The second question is the BC will work on 12V instead of 6V I have the original gauges to work on 6V How can I lower the voltage to 6V and the reading will be accurate. Regards Israel |
Hi Isreal, Macs autos sell resistors to suit the ford commercial guages.
I cant recall exactly what you have there. Mechanical gauges obviously don't require them. Electric gauges for temperature, oil pressure, volt meter and fuel level do require them, however an ammeter does not. There are two types of oil pressure senders. The one you use depends on your engine and which oil pump you are using. The earlier one is for the old long pump and is harder to find as a new item. The later higher pressure one goes with the short oil pump. It is readily available. I cannot remember all the details about matching the original gauge to the higher pressure sender unit. Some research on your part will be required. |
Hull, serial and censeus number
Yesterday I could have a look at this UC.
Here are the findings, plus a question to the knowledgeable ones: Lower tub, Dominion bridge serial: 22543c Ford of Canada serial: 23523 Ford production date: 14 Jan 1944 So far, matching numbers. However - WD census is CT162220. Per MLU's lists, CT1622** were produced in late 1942. The question remains as to how it was allocated to a vehicle produced some 15 months later. Any ideas? Thank you! |

So far your observations about the apparent gap in the numbers does make it appear there is an obvious mistake. I am thinking the WD number may belong to a November, 1942 production UC-2 mortar carrier built on a factory MK-I* hull. |

I notice you are using straight hoses on the lower rad to water pumps. Although you are using silicone hose, which will bend reasonably easy, you might want to consider using the preformed rubber hoses from a 52 Ford. It reduces the stress on the lower rad outlets.
Check this link where we discuss the lower rad hoses: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=24900 |

Be aware that if you have to change your water pumps to the new version with better sealing, the preformed lower hoses will be too short as the new pumps have shorter outlets. (see my post in the restoration forum). |
