Met a Shiela once, she fed me Vegemite. I commented that it tastes like Promolas (Cow food supplement) smells. She countered with, "Better than that bloody paste you lot eat!" and pointed to my jar of peanut butter! End of relationship!

Unfortunately, the price you quoted was probably par for the course, albeit we haven't seen the truck. Restored/complete versions are rare enough in North America as it is, given the erosion of time and weather. What you in the U.S. have an advantage in is that they are not in the same demand as jeeps etc, given the U.S. Army never used them. That might make a difference.

Cheers,

Geoff

I think I've found one Geoff. It was in a recent Supply line. I'm driving to Illinois this weekend (Apr 14) to take a look at it. We've done some negotiating already price wise, so if its in the condition its been described, I'll be the proud owner of a C15 this Saturday. Wish me luck!

..Mites

Our 24-hour Tesco where our daughter works in Salisbury sells Vegemite, and it is a KRAFT product...and located next to Marmite! Years ago we had a trip round the HARP lager brewery in Alton and we were all amazed to see a truck take away excess yeast for use in making Marmite! I just wish it would taste of beer,

Marmite....

Chris...
You'll be pleased that you can get substitute Vegemite in Canada now..
You will have to bring some to CC5 to smear on your roast pork....

Wake yourself up with Marmite
Meet Marmite. Or maybe you already have.

TORONTO, June 8 /CNW/ - While Marmite is far from a Canadian breakfast
staple, many fans including transplanted Brits and others from around the
Commonwealth continue to enjoy their traditional Marmite & toast in Canada. A
few of their Canadian-born friends and relatives have also acquired the
Marmite habit and those who like it, love it!
Our goal is to introduce more Canadians to the 100% vegetarian British
breakfast tradition of "Toast & Marmite" as a fresh wake-up alternative to the
same old dull breakfast every day. It's a totally unique taste experience that
will awaken your taste buds with its sharpness...not in any way dull or timid.
For its many fans Marmite is an "essential food group" all on its own.
We have interviewed five Canadian Marmite lovers and let them tell us how
their loyal Marmite love affair began. They wanted to share their favourite
Marmite recipes and applications - Marmite lovers seem eager to enlighten us!
Their stories are all 100% genuine, as are the photos.
Marmite is available throughout Canada at major grocery chains although
some have this hard-to-define spread in the baking section. Try it...we hope
you'll like it too!
We can provide you with samples, pictures, interviews and even toast for
you to share the good news.

My Mate Marmite

Marmite is a yeast extract...you either love it or loathe it (like cheesecake?). Years ago we had a trip around a brewery and there was a tanker waiting up outside a building. Turned out it was sucking up the excess yeast from the brewery vats and was then destined for the Marmite factory. I just wish it had some alcohol in it!

I looked at the back of a Vegimite bottle the other day to see which Kraft company owned up to making it...seems as though it is Australian-sourced and then imported. Does that make sense?

No it doesn't. Kraft is a US manufacturer, and I think Marmite was invented in the UK.

Our beloved Vegemite was first concocted here in Australia and is still made here but by a foreign-owned company - Kraft.

I could wax lyrical about this wonderful stuff - in fact as I type I'm enjoying some spread on Ryvita biscuits with a cuppa. It doesn't get much better than this.

I recommend it highly to all on the MLU forum. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it is un-MLU not to consume your daily ration AND enjoy it. :teach:

What the beejesus is this ? .And on toast??Never saw the stuff although it does get MA Yapster yappier, then she wants to :fry: Mark Tonner.Do they sell this stuff in Canada as I have a crack in the basement wall that needs repairing-or I can test the stuff on the big Golden Retriever,as he lays there on the rug minding his own business.Excuse me a moment."Here Shad.daddy has something for you to taste",as he wakes up amd blinks at me.Even the golden doesn't like the thought of this stuff. :confused

Shadster

The Shadster would lap it up, I believe, although having said that you can't always say a dog knows what's good for it. Try looking up the word "coprophasia"

But as I say, :note: VEGEMITE :note: is the stuff good MLU-ers are built on (or should be). :teach:
