No I was in the jeep that day.
|
It was puddle Jumper that decided to have a bar b que in the back . Interesting comment about the fuel vaporising at a lower temp . All will be well with PJ. We are fairly sure it was a static spark from a can . It was more a vapour fire than the actual vehicle . No one hurt, all over in a flash so to speak ( and 4 dry powder extinguishers ) . Contrary to roumer we were not throwing petrol everywhere before the fire . The vehicle was roasting hot after a 50 mile drive on a 28degree hot day.

Was not there myself at the time, but it was surely the talk of the day. I'd say, as long as PJ will be alright and all involved learned a valuable lesson all ended well. Re. the heat; I was surprised no-one started reenacting "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" :) Hanno |

Thanks for posting Richard..... So jealous!.. I really enjoyed watching!
Thanks again. |
Enjoyed the video
Hi Richard
Want to echo Lynns "Thanks for posting Richard..... So jealous!.. I really enjoyed watching!" The black and white monochrome really makes you wonder about when the film was taken. Cheers Phil |
The footage in the tree's is my favourite as there was nothing modern in the shot. Followed by the footage under Grave bridge where we moved off (courtesy of Ross)
Lynn you need to get saving up mate, tell Sean and Rob ! There is bound to be another trip on the cards.... A week on the move in the carriers has to be worth it ! |

I would be up for that !
EDIT: cancel that.... It's all American so will give it a miss. |
Awesome vid, I also loved the part through the trees, so nostalgic and you could just imagine what it might have been like, minus the artillery, etc.. :thup2:

What an awesome experience!
I echo the comments of Lynn and others, I am really envious of the experience you all had. Reading through the posts, there are comments on meeting up with MLU people for the first time: looking at many pictures I can see people I met at WnP this year.
The carriers did really well to travel so far, and in that heat. The period uniforms and equipment really makes the scene authentic. (Hope we can persuade more of our lot to do the same). Well done one and all. Rob |

Here is a nice picture book on the XXXCorps run.... I've bought a copy directly from the publisher last weekend at a fair, but I am pretty sure it will be available from from of the specialised MV book suppliers as well.
Don't expect in debt info on Market Garden, it's a MV picture book. Most vehicles that were in the XXXcorps event are in there. publisher is Giesbers Media. ; Price is around 20 Euro's. p.s. I have no relation to the seller, publisher or writer. Alex |
