I was looking at my MK2 armour and noticed that where they had riveted the back plate on at the bottom all the rivets were hammered flat all across on the out side .The only reason I think this was done was that the long box or motor crank that goes at the back wouldn't interfer with the rivet heads .On the sides there is some special bolts with heads the can be held with a flat screw driver .Some are used to bolt the two steps on Not sure what the rest are for . Your riveting sure looks good and I think away better than any othe method George

Woooaaaaa THAT IS GREAT. Very nicely done. If you notice the original rivets are not always perfect, as they were put together rather quickly. Also there are a few that have flat heads on one side to allow for bolts to be installed. There are quite a few really. Martyn did you keep hold of the dolly (forms ) what ever they are called,, the bits that go into the ends of the hammers ? if so can i borrow them when i come to do mine ? i wont have anywhere near as many as you to do...... Great job !!!!!

where did you get the rivets from buddy and could you post up what where and type etc for us poor folk who may wish to follow your lead.

Hi has anyone got a photo of the other half of the brackets that are for the weep water kits one half is welded to the hull and threaded what the other bit look like ? also has anyone got a photo of a british mk2 with the round tube tops with these brackets on ???? cheeres martyn

Hi thanks, we have been keeping a record of the costs to build a new carrier hull works out at around £12k to build and rivet the hull then you have the cost and time taken to buy and refirb the suspention units etc.
Building a hull is the easy part if i could find more cast parts i could build more but would prefer to restore rather than build new but if some one was to ask...

Martyn it looks "mint !" as us Geordies say...

hi martyn, you taking her to beltring?. When you fit your exhaust, as i'm doing at the moment, an interesting note to remember is that there are two small drilled holes (3mm each) in the bottom muffler inlet pipe at the lowest point on each muffler to let the water out, nearly welded mine up thinking they should not be there. :salute: looking forward to seeing your carrier.

Thanks kevin will rember that when i fit my exhausts on, would like to take her to beltring but not sure if she will be finshed by then as still got a lot to sort on her but would be nice. got the axle fitted to day just got to paint it and put the hubs on the brakes are on seem to be working ok now! almost there

Hi was just want to say if any of you are at beltringe iam going to try and bring my mk1 new build hull down it has not been fully rivetted yet but will be soon but just thort id show it in the rebuild state.

when is beltring again ? i might well pop down all be it is in Kent.....tuther side of teh moon to me.

Very nice work, what did you do about the double ended bolts?the two of them, did you make new ones or were you able to buy them? I refer to the ones with both the left hand thread and also the right hand thread, I have made them myself in the past and just wondered if anyone has any N. O. Hi Lyn.
I was talking about the two double ended ajustment bolts that you wind in or out to ajust the steering rods, one end screws into each clevis,and they are the standard right hand thread and the other end has the left hand thread, much the same as a turnbuckle,I know there was a guy in the states who had them awhile back for sale, but I made up mine,
