Hmm! perhaps it may have been more exiting if they were CMP Stuarts.
|
Exciting enough though

The Stuart looks great, and I expect to see a perfect one drive out of your workshop in a couple of weeks. |
Did the Stuart come from Mudgee way
Just a quick question did the stuart come from a chap who mined industrial Diamonds near Glenn Davies?

Ah well
Quick answer: Yes.
Ah Col meet Col I used to play with that 25 years ago when it had a diesel engine fitted in place of the radial |
Hi mark, yes it was col meet col and a lovely old bloke he is. We got on very well and he loves his new plane. It will be great to see both tanks up and running. I will keep everyone posted of their progress. They will have to be under cover and await their turn but hopefully not too long.
regards Colin. |
Best destination for any tank
Those tanks do not realise how lucky they are. Glad you got them Colin.
Can I book a ride in one of them when theyre up & running? A your pace - I suppose that'll be in a months time?? |
Your ride is booked in. You can have a drive if you come and give me a hand :coffee :)
|
Would be honoured Colin.
TImes & location Colin - sent by PM if you like. I reckon it'd be an unforgettable experience.

I went border raiding this week but I suspect no one will mind as what I picked up was yellow :p
I picked it up at Terang so how many MLUers did I pass without realising it? |
Your Border Raid

Does it have a Military connection? If not is it still border raiding? It'll look a bit out of place on a blitz.

Border Raiding
Robert,
Love what you picked up. Hope to have one myself one day. Regards Alex |
Rick, I hadn't considered putting it on the blitz but it would make a uneque truck out of it
Alex, It will be verry useful when I get it mounted, I need to add a frame to make it into a three point linkage implement. As with all cheep in perfect working order purchaces some repairs will be necessary before it can be used. :bang: :coffee Keith one of these days i'll make a planed trip to Melbourne instead of a mad dash. |

Remember my Dad filling and I mean filling an engine with diesel fuel, cylinders, crank case, intake manifold and just let it sit in the sun for a week or so. Then he drain the whole thing out. Put it in gear and rocked the car back and forth until the engine would spin all the way around then put fresh fuel in the carb put the plugs back in fresh oil and the silly engine start with a cloud of smoke made a racket but as it sat there running it smooth out smoke stopped coming out the exhaust. Don't know how long the engine survived but I remember the car driving away under its own power. Cheers Phil |

Keith droped in today to visit the cab12 and I found the perfect photo frame for him :D
Of all the photos I've taken of this blitz it was only today I noticed the axles have the removing studs in place. |
Raid

Yes, caught in the act, a very slow motion raid, this one... Good to catch up, Robert. Robert's place is in a beautiful setting off the Snowy Mountain Hwy, well worth a visit, if just to see his concreting prowess! |
This was the pic I was taking
Although the engine was seized I'd hoped it may not be too bad but the dipstick has a mix of oil and water, so no point pulling a head off at this stage.
http://gallery.me.com/oldcmp.net/100...13276994950001 It's missing a few bits, but is not too bad. Does anyone have a spare Ford cab 12 horn? http://gallery.me.com/oldcmp.net/100...13276997150001 Also looking for a grille and fuel tanks. |

Warning.! I will be conducting a secret border raid from my forward base at Corowa this year, deep into NSW. The prize? To be revealed.

Keith,
I hope you are sealing off that shed, calling in the licensed Asbestos Clean Up Crew, informing the HAZMAT people at the EPA, placing barriers at a certified safe distance to keep the general public, sheep and cattle safe from air-borne asbestos fibres and were wearing a full-face mask filter system (pos pressure) certified for the prevention of the ingress of asbestos fibres when you took that shot!!!    Love the bright blue V8, by the way..... :salute: Mike C |
Hazmat
I held my breath and was careful not to make any air currents.
Actually I was looking for more of the stuff as I hear it is a good insulator. At least it's not the blue asbestos! But of course I do understand it is a potentially hazardous material, to be treated with respect. Whilst the engine is an appealing shade of blue there will be an unappealing shade of brown rust in at least two of the cylinders. Quote:
