If I'm not mistaken, that's the truck that used to be in the boatyard in Pefferlaw (just south of Lake Simcoe). SUNRAY MINOR took several photos of it some years ago, albeit not from the same angle. It's not in bad shape, all things considered.

Looks like a potential good buy, strange how it goes some times I know someone in the states who has more that invested in a pile of parts which may or may not even be a complete truck. Not sure I should froward this this along to him as it might discourage him.

Cheers Phil

cheers

Grant Bowker 28-12-09 21:38

You read the price the same as I did, it has to be the low mileage......

KrisHamilton 28-12-09 21:52

ah

Sigh..... when trucks used to actually look like trucks

Brian,

Great find! Must have looked brilliant when new: fire engine red with black wheels.

See more pictures here: http://s880.photobucket.com/albums/ac7/sysgenss02/FM/

Wolf in sheep's clothing.....

That Halifax CMP is a bit of a treasure.

It has been listed for at least 3 months and the owner is waiting for his price as he needs the $$ to redo another pickup.

Based on previous review of detailed pictures.....

It is a HUP or HUW that has been converted to a cab 13 GS..... it has only 6 bolts per rim..... frame is curved over rear axle.... back of cab has been fabricated out of one peice sheet metal with no joint at belt line... rear window is not original..... front grill support has been fabricated..... box is good 2C1 box...... no way of telling if tailgate is included..... no tool box.... gas tanks are fabricated...... steering wheel is only 3 spokes civvy unit....
Claims to be running but with no brakes....

Still a good running frame... for restoring into a HUP.... but not a GS.....

Bob your knowledge of CMP's is intense! :note:

Bob Carriere 30-12-09 00:04

Intense.....daffynition....?

Nah.... merely repeating what Grant and I observed from previous posting on Kijiji.....

Could not find intense in the Webster.....but found in the Hammond Pictionary
Intense or ortense..... (whor'tense) ..... a very nervous girl from Hammond...

..oh by the way..... we had your jam for Xmas brunch..... you are a cook.... it was delicious.

They are still listed....

...but could not access with the link ....had to search directly at Kijiji ... Kingston..... tires...... end of listing.....

Need to establish "how" new they really are..... would be nice if one of the Kingston boys could look at them for cuts or cupping when used on a bad front axle....

Look under "military all terrain 4x4".....relisted March 8th..... maybe now he will take a low baller....

Tires

The ad on Kijiji has expired. The tires were for sale by a dealer in Belleville. Empey tire I think. They had if I remember over 100 900:16 military Michelins in stock. Used but very good tread.

Brian and I have looked at this truck and it is pretty nice. Jim spent considerable $$ on the restoration and it shows. Here is a photo of it with my DAF.

9.00X16 Michelin XL radial tires

yes, those are Empey Tires...I just got 4 for my M37, brought up to a dealer in Bowmanville from Empey's...tires still have decent tread and not cupped...*CAUTION* if being installed on rims needing a tube, use only radial tube of appropriate size...Wilf

Interesting F8.....

Makes you wonder what kind of 17 inch rims they have fitted on that..... a nice alternative to the elusive 13 inchers.... and looks good with the taller rubber....

Havenīt we seen this one before?

Oh well, all rusty old trucks look the same

Grant Bowker 13-09-10 19:07

I agree, this has been observed before, although I think the price used to be higher.

Bob Carriere 13-09-10 22:32

Seen that one before.....

Been on Kijiji at least twice....didn't sell..... last few weeks he was asking $650 CDN and did not sell.....

Notice the cab leading edge..... windshield.... windscreen for our distant neighbours..... is tilted back at the top with a larger eye brow.....

Located about 50 km from my place.....

Buyer beware...
